The Business of Show Business Masterclass

WITH THE RIGHT STRATEGY AND CONFIDENCE, YOU CAN ACHIEVE YOUR CAREER GOALS

Now is the best time to take control of your online presence, learn how to market yourself, and implement and create an easy-to-manage strategy. Marketing is the backbone of your brand and business; let’s make that as easy as possible for you to do.

Over the last nine years, Jamie has taught his keynote and lecture, The Business of Show Business (formerly Performer Branding), across the UK and internationally online. Its purpose is to help creatives get in the room or secure an interview by knowing their personal brand, how to market themselves and how to master their digital presence so the in-person and online personas match.

From working with individuals, small arts businesses, lecturing and leading performing arts institutes such as the Royal Ballet School, Laine Theatre Arts, Performers College, University of Winchester, and English National Ballet School, let Jamie help you to master the business skills needed to thrive in the arts and culture sector and not just thrive. You can also check out his podcast of the same name.

I aim to help you take control of your career in an industry where it often seems you have little to no control.

Giving you the tools to take control of your career.

If you’ve scrolled this far, it means you’re ready to step into the spotlight—not just on stage, but in your career.

The Business of Show Business masterclasses are designed for performers, creatives, and freelancers who want to stop waiting to be chosen and start building a brand and career on their terms.

Whether you're a student preparing for your first audition season or a working artist navigating the freelance world, this session will give you the tools, clarity, and confidence to think like a business—without losing your creative spark.

Jamie’s masterclasses blend industry insight with practical strategy. Topics include:

  • Personal branding for creatives – Define who you are and what you offer, and who is buying what you have to offer

  • Online presence and content strategy – From websites to reels, get noticed

  • How to monetise your skills – Beyond gigs: income streams you might be missing

  • Working with agents and your VIPs – Who your gatekeepers are, and how to connect

  • Pitching with confidence – Master the art of self-promotion

  • Top tools and apps – Save time and stress with easy-to-use digital resources

As a certified NLP Career & Business Coach, Jamie goes deeper than just strategy. He helps you:

  • Set realistic, actionable career goals

  • Overcome limiting beliefs and negative self-talk

  • Push beyond your comfort zone to unlock growth

  • Recognise and access your own creative power

  • Develop a mindset that supports longevity in the arts

This is about more than headshots and hashtags—it’s about building a fulfilling, sustainable career in the entertainment industry.

Jamie’s passion and enthusiasm, balanced with his vast experience and expertise in the creative industries is second to none. His visit really made the students think about themselves as a business: branding and professionalism in the industry.

His advice was invaluable as to how they approach potential castings, how to manage their online presence on social media platforms, with reference to the creation of content.

He also focussed on how to identify and capitalise on their transferable skills to create ways of making a living in the creative industries as a side-line.

We are looking forward to him visiting again with his current and invaluable input to the students’ journey.
